Jessica Marie

     Owner/Artist

BIO: My name is Jessica Marie and I am the owner of Black Sheep Tattoo Parlor. From a very young age, drawing and painting was always something I prioritized and practiced, whether it was personal artwork, school projects, storefront paintings, custom drawings or paintings for my peers, family members and friends. During my high school years, I watched a lot of television shows about tattooing, read all  the books on tattooing and magazines that I could get my hands on. These mediums of information showed me the most prestigious and world renowned artists and their work; it was safe to say I began to develop a serious fascination with the art of tattooing. Starting off as a hobby to being a full blown fascination/dedication, I realized I wanted art to revolve around my lifestyle so making art my career was a no brainer. Tattooing was my dream. Having a successful tattoo career was an instinctual and intuitive feeling, so having that confidence and drive allowed me to keep my eye on the prize and maintain fierce determination to reach my goals. Right after I graduated high school, the process began.

Being a self taught tattoo artist, I experienced a lot of setbacks in the beginning because I didn’t have the proper guidance, but through perseverance I continued. I poured all the time in the world to master my craft because I knew setbacks only continue to stay setbacks if you allow them to. A couple years later in 2014, I began working in a shop in Los Angeles, and the beginning of my professional career began. Every single day was an ode to my progress; every stroke of the needle, every line, every blend was done intentionally with the aim to do better and become better with each tattoo. It was me against myself, and I knew that the amount of effort I put into my work was a direct reflection of my progress, so I pushed and never stopped.

With every tattoo I create, you’re getting all the history behind my progress and skill, every long day and night, every waking hour dedicated to my growth, and each drop of blood, sweat, and tears that goes into the craft.

Fast forward to 2019, I made one of the most life changing decisions to open up my very own tattoo shop, and Black Sheep Tattoo Parlor was born in the beautiful city of San Pedro, California. Being a woman in a male dominated industry has been a complete honor because I get a huge sense of accomplishment that I defied odds and stigmas associated with women in the work field. The theme of my career has been accomplishing success through navigating challenges and obstacles, and that theme is very fitting for the styles of tattooing I specialize in.

As of right now, I specialize in high contrast photorealism, geometric with optical illusion and psychedelic influences, ornamental, fine line, neo-traditional, and illustrative blackwork, but that doesn’t exclude other styles. I completely enjoy highly detailed, intricate pieces that showcase my line work and smooth blends, and the challenge that’s associated with those styles of tattooing. I’m extremely big on proper technical application and longevity so you have a piece that withstands the test of time. If I have to reject a tattoo design or style that I genuinely feel won’t age well or last, I will gladly do so because I genuinely care about the work my clients receive. In my hands, your ideas will be wholeheartedly considered and prioritized, and 100% effort will be applied to your tattoo. The amount of trust clients put in me to capture their ideas is something I deeply value, so I take pride in giving them a tattoo that exceeds their expectations, every single time.
